Editing Woes

I love writing. Could do it all day and night if I had nothing else to do. But editing? Blech… Tedious, frustrating, depressing. All those things.

Still it has to be done. No point in giving my editor heart failure when she looks at it for the first time.

What have I been editing?

I’ve gone through the next book in Mellie Miller’s Esperance book. Now on to Sultonna, with Lady Calloway. I’ve been through this book several times and this will be the last before sending it off. And then we’ll see what my editor does with it.

Still not sure about the final title for the book. Originally it was just going to be Lady Calloway. But then I thought, perhaps Lady Calloway’s Dilemma.

Not sure about that one. Lady Calloway’s Heresy? Meh… I’ve left a possibility for the book cover below. Tell me what you think.

What is it about? That would probably help you out if you have any suggestions.

In an alternate universe, London England around 1800, the church and state are one. Not actually Catholic or any particular religion is named, but you’ll find similarities to several.

Liora is from a small village up north of London–or Londre as it is called there. Catching the eye of Lord Calloway as he travels for the church, they are married in the spring.

What Kerrick doesn’t realize is that his wife’s priest has been teaching heresy. Nothing particularly drastic, in the overall scheme of things, but it is something which could ruin not only his marriage, but his career and his life.

And it is definitely detrimental to his love life. He must find a way to convince his wife to accept the true teaching of the church before she’s found out and he’s prosecuted for harboring a heretic.

Liora has to decide whether following her heart is worth more to her than the possibility of being condemned to hell. Her husband swears what she’s been taught is incorrect and he works for the church. Still…

But their troubles are only beginning.

So, I’m off to do more editing. Have a wonderful late summer. I’m looking forward to autumn and cooler temperatures.

And remember,

Always Look For the Magic
