Sometimes what you don’t know scares you the most.
I have one non-fiction book about my experience with breast cancer. As a survivor, I chose to share my story with others. Because of all the things I didn’t know as I started my treatment once the diagnosis was made.
Everything moved so quickly once the diagnosis was made I hardly had time to catch my breath. It was difficult to take it all in, let alone understand any of it.
What was going to happen?
What could I expect?
What tests and imaging were necessary before surgery? And what did they involve?
How would the chemo affect me? Or the radiation therapy?
The doctors did their best, I’m sure, but when you deal with something on a daily basis, you sometimes forget that not everyone understands what you do. They rely on you to ask questions, forgetting you may not know what to ask. They may fail to realize that you don’t understand the whole process.
If you or someone you know is facing breast cancer, please consider giving my book a read.
Thanks and best of luck to you.
