It’s that time of year. You have all these people to shop for and you’re running out of ideas. But if there are readers on your list, how about a little magic?
I know, a book doesn’t seem like enough.
But what about a book paired with a candle inspired by fantasy to help set the scene for that book?
First, start with your book. How about Master of the Fleet? A fantasy romance with a dark underside, in an alternate reality. A town on the coast of the Pacific Northwest.
Now add a candle to set the tone. I suggest Deep Water Harbor. The smell of driftwood and sea salt, oiled ship timbers, and polished brass call you to the sea.
So, what about Whiskey Jug Genie? We’re talking an apothecary shop where one of our MC’s works. And a magical being–the genie. Also, the magic which binds him to the jug and all the spells and magic they use to try to give him back his freedom.
I see a couple different possibilities here . Apothecary of course, with it’s scents of rich pumpkin smashed in a mortar and pestle and warmed through with spicy patchouli. Think pumpkin spice with a twist.
Or there is The Alchemist, because we’re mixing magic into our apothecary wares.
But what could evoke the spirit of Arabia more–where our genie originally hales from –than Turkish Delight, that wonderfully addictive and festive candy from the middle east. Imagine the aroma of Rosewater, powdered sugar & lemon all wafting through your room as you read. Of course, you might find yourself searching for a sweet snack…
Whatever you choose, Mythologie probably has a candle to fit your mood.
So add a couple candles to your gift list. And don’t forget a couple for yourself.
Have a wonderful holiday season.
And remember,
Always Look For the Magic…
