This is supposed to be the South. Warm weather, rain, some clouds, and maybe, once in a while, a few snowflakes. Nothing major.
But what are they predicting this weekend?
Snow, freezing rain, and night time temperatures down to 12 F.
12 degrees Fahrenheeit?
You must be joking! Someone find Mother Nature and get her back on whatever meds she should be taking. She’s obviously not thinking clearly.
So we got everything checked out in case our power goes out or a tree falls on something important. Generator started up just fine. We have fuel for it. Chainsaw fired up and we have fuel for it as well. There is plenty of firewood. The cats will stay warm…
And food. No, not bread and milk. I have never understood that concept. I have flour, pasta, rice, potatoes, canned goods, meat in the freezer, and a gas stove, as well as the wood stove in the living room.
We should be set.
In other news, I’m still wading through the editing on Lady Calloway. Work is progressing and I feel good about it. Except for the cover art…
I need an opinion.
But first, a quick overview of the story.
Set in an alternate timeline of around Victorian England, the church and state are two arms of the same organization. All the laws are built on the Holy Writings and the church has the authority to come in at any time and enforce said law, over the heads of the secular arm.
Our main female character, Lady Calloway, recently married and, due to the teachings of her village priest, she struggles with her “wifely duties”, frustrating her husband, as well as being miserable herself. He doesn’t know about her beliefs until one night, in anger and frustration, he confronts her, only to learn his wife is a heretic.
Lord Calloway works for the church, in a unique capacity. He is duty bound to turn her over to the confessors, so they can bring her back into the faith. But he loves his wife and can’t bring himself to do so, knowing what will result.
So he takes her away from London, on a trip to the coast, in order to try and change her mind.
Unfortunately, they both begin to develop mental abilities forbidden by the church and are forced to flee toward Wales, in the middle of the night.
So we have the church, a romance, and a young lady caught in the middle.
Which cover speaks to you? Or do you hate them all? Or love them all?
Drop me a line and let me know. I need to get started on some promotional posts soon, so I need to figure it out. (Right now, I’m leaning toward the second one.)
Thanks for your help and for following! Take care during the upcoming storms
