The shadows can play tricks on you under the full moon. A light breeze stirs the branches and leaves of the sage, the shadows moving like something alive.

Shane Shadowstalker had to be across town to meet with an informant, but traffic was at a standstill. He made a choice. As a distance runner, he could take the game trail through the brush and make it in time.

But things go wrong shortly before he arrives. His senses tell him it’s bad before he actually sees the scene. After the local authorities deal with the mess and take his information, he heads back through the brush, under the full moon.
